Guide to Acura Safety Features

AcuraWatch™ Overview

Acura has always been dedicated to keeping drivers safe. In fact, the brand has stated that it’s its goal to create a “zero collision society” where accidents are a thing of the past. AcuraWatch™ is a big step toward achieving that. This safety and driver assistance package combines seven of the brand's most cutting-edge features into a comprehensive safety package that is standard on every Acura sedan and SUV from the 2023 model year or later. Check out the seven Acura features that can make the difference between experiencing an accident and reaching your destination safely.

  1. Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS): This system is powered by a network of radar sensors and forward-facing cameras that monitor the closing distance between objects in front of your vehicle. When CMBS detects that a collision is unavoidable without corrective action, it engages the brakes to reduce the impact of the collision.
  2. Forward Collision Warning (FCW): This system uses the same sensors CMBS to monitor objects in front of you and alert you if a possible collision is detected, giving you an opportunity to take corrective actions.
  3. Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW): On roads with clearly marked lanes, the LDW system notifies you with a visual and audible message when it detects that your vehicle is about to leave the lane. If the system detects that you are about to veer off-road, RDM utilizes the active steering functionality of LKAS to gently guide your vehicle back on course.
  4. Blind Spot Information (BSI) System: This system is an extra set of eyes alerting you when a vehicle is approaching from the rear or lingering in your blind spot.
  5. Rear Cross Traffic Monitor: When your vehicle is in reverse, this system lets you know if a vehicle is passing behind you.
  6. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF): When you're driving slower than your cruise control speed, the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) keeps a safe distance from the car in front by adjusting your speed and applying brakes if needed. It can even slow down to a stop to match the leading vehicle. When you turn on the ACC, it will ask you to choose how far you want to stay behind the next car: close, medium, or far.
  7. Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS): On straight or slightly curved roads, the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) helps keep your car centered in its lane. If you start to drift out of your lane without signaling, the system will gently pull on the steering wheel to help guide your car back to the middle of the lane.
